Hyrax character

Henry is a rock hyrax that I modeled for fun and have used in a number of projects since.

He’s low poly-ish and fully rigged (including his face). I animated a walk cycle, idle, and some misc. animations like waking up and stretching. Modeled and rigged in Blender, textured in InstaMAT.

In Unreal Engine, Henry’s character uses Control Rig for procedural animation — the rig does dynamic gaze targeting and prevents legs from clipping through the ground using raycasts and IK.

Fun facts: Rock hyraxes (also known as “rock rabbits” or “dassies”) are found only in the Middle East and Africa. Their closest living relatives are elephants!
